The crisis has already led to fundamental shifts in how research is being conducted in several fields, particularly psychological science. Zoroastrianism by Jenny Rose6/21/2023 ![]() ![]() But there are also significant Zoroastrian communities to be found elsewhere, such as in the USA, Britain and Canada, where western cultural contexts have shaped the religion in intriguing ways and directions. Beyond Iran, the Zoroastrian disapora is significant especially in India, where the Gujarati-speaking community of emigrants from post-Sasanian Iran call themselves 'Parsis'. ![]() In present-day Iran, significant communities of Zoroastrians (who take their name from the founder of the faith, the remarkable religious reformer Zoroaster) still practise the rituals and teach the moral precepts that once undergirded the officially state-sanctioned faith of the mighty Sasanian empire. Zoroastrianism is one of the world's great ancient religions. ![]() Sadie book book review6/21/2023 ![]() ![]() The podcast format wasn’t something I’d seen before and it immediately drew me in. Told partially in narrative format from Sadie’s point of view, and partially via podcast put together by the character and journalist West McCray this is one of the most unique books, structure wise, I’ve ever read. Sadie has got to be one of the most gut-wrenching, emotionally exhausting, and yet wholly satisfying books I have ever read. They just get better at hiding who they really are.” He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late. ![]() When West McCray-a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America-overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. Shola von reinhold lote6/20/2023 ![]() ![]() In order to emulate her Transfixions, she has constantly reinvented her identity over the years in a series of ‘Escapes’, transforming into an ever-more dramatic version of herself. Like Mathilda, most of these figures are queer and many are Black. She experiences what she calls ‘Transfixions’–intense emotional and sensory connections to historical figures that can be strong enough to leave her in a giddy daze. ![]() The narrator of LOTE, Mathilda Adamarola, is also fascinated by Tennant and his friends. He was–in the words of writer Lady Caroline Blackwood – “just an eccentric gay who didn’t really do anything”. After tearing through a number of biographies, my favourite figure became Stephen Tennant. His pictures capture the dazzling, decadent world of these young British socialites of the interwar period–their fabulous costume parties, heavy drinking, artistic flair, and taste for excess. ![]() I first discovered the Bright Young Things at an exhibition of Cecile Beaton’s photography. ![]() Marriage for one ella6/20/2023 ![]() ![]() The next he seemed to be completely mine. One second I thought we were in love.
